CD's cost money and there is time involved in making and distributing

---I would. I bet others would, too.

If the CD's were priced according to the true value of the information
contained therein, they should be a minimum of $25.00 per.  You can't
purchase software or databases or even a decent book nowadays for less
than that.  The funds generated from the CD's could at least help to
defray some of the expenses in running the site.

---Right, but as long as the site was free, how many people would pay for the CD? I probably would, as long as updates were provided regularly, at a reasonable price. Set up like a book club? But then, why not take the site off the web entirely?

Alternately, a user fee could be charged.  For instance, free access for
say the first ten hits, then if the user wants to continue to use the
library, membership could be a mandatory requirement.

---I don't think this is a bad idea, but how much time would it take to set up? would it be more headache for Bob?
