Ken,
	Your apple tree problem is most likely apple scab.  If the leaves have 
brown spots surrounded by yellow it is most likely scab.  The leaves 
fall off.  The tree will be almost bare.  It doesn't kill the tree, but 
it sure looks bad.  It is too late to spray now.  Spraying must begin in 
early spring before the leaves emerge.
