Dear Cindy,
I found the plant listed in Arrowhead Alpines and this is what was said as
follows:
Punnett has grown this for years, his originals came from Woodlanders I
think, however he almost lost it in the hard winters a couple of years ago,
we decided it's high time we propagated a bunch of it. An Eastern American
native and rare in the wild, it resembles a small rosemary with fairly showy
flowers. This is a choice plant that should be passed around, grow some,
root a few cuttings and give them away as Christmas presents to gardening
friends. PS. If you happen to grow the white form, I'd like a piece.
That is all. Nothing about zone or where to grow it. But, if it is a
woodlander I would think at least some shade would be tolerated. From the
statement about hard winters above, and the reference to Eastern American,
might say that maybe it is possibly a Zone 6 plant?
