Hi Chick and Bob...

Yes the francophones do take it seriously, but only in so far as they
obsess about preserving their cultural heritage and language.  They
don't want to be part of a cultural melting pot.  Some of them are
determined to become an independant state - most however, realize their
best interests lay in remaining within Canada, as the last referendum
showed.
