Hi Everybody,
Just a reminder that tonight at 10:22 PM EST the First Look Auction
closes on all items. The determining factor on who won an item will be the
highest bid in before 22:22:01 on the item's page in the auction. Bids
stamped 22:22:01 or later on all items will not count. We cannot shut the
auction software down quickly enough to avoid " You have been outbid"
notices being sent out automatically for bids that were too late, so please
ignore these. There will probably be a number of them issued in error during
the minutes following the close of the auction. We cannot interfere with how
the auction software does these things. The auction timestamping is done in
EST and cannot be changed.
For those waiting until the final seconds before launching their last
bids, please be aware that there may be a brief delay between pushing the
"Place Bid" button and the time the bid is accepted by the auction software.
How long this delay is will be influenced by traffic on the internet. It is
not safe to wait until 22:21:59 to push that button (assuming your clock is
matched perfectly to the auction's) as that bid may then show up 5 or 10
seconds later and be too late to be counted.
If you are interested in making bids on several items in the last
minute of the auction, you can have several copies of your browser open to
the bid pages and filled in with your passwords and amounts. All you need do
then is push the "Place Bid" button on each in succession to launch them.
How many browsers you can have open at once will be determined by your
computer.
There is still time to register and bid if you have your eye on an
item there. Many of the items found in the First Look Auction will not be
available any where else this year.
Good luck to all bidders, and please be assured the winning bids in
the closing moments will be decided in a fair way by the software without
any human intervention. You will be able to see instantly who won and who
did not by checking the item's bid page. Please do not bid after the auction
has ended, as this will send "You have been outbid" notices to other bidders
and will not affect the outcome.
