Spring, sort of

Hi, all you experts. My very few hostas in pots are leaping out of the dirt
with gay abandon. The hostas underground are staying there till they feel
better about the advent of spring, evidently.
Is there a reason that hostas in pots emerge earlier? This includes the
babies that somebody had in the front shade bed, and one that I plucked out
because something was gnawing at it. And the plantagenia that I thought was
lost forever that I had planted in the back yard. It isn't up yet, but the
pot is secure.
I am thinking pretty seriously of stubbing the babies in among the front
foundation planting of azaleas, which are so boring except once a year.
What say you?
