Mary,
The nights were cool and we had plenty of rain, ergo big hostas.

This year I continue to receive reports that the hostas in
the south are
better that ever. They are growing. Even Sum and Substance
is growing for
me. That is not normal. Now we had almost no winter and a
very dry summer
and spring. Keep these facts in mind and tell me
why.
The one other factor that I feel may have contributed to the
situation is
that this year the plants only had one cool spell after they
begin to grow.
It is not unusual for them to go through as many as 8 in a
normal spring.
Can it be a fact that the hostas here would grow larger
and better if we did
not have such drastic changes in temperature during
their growing
season?
