Hosta Question

While working in one of my hosta beds today, I noticed that
several have some hairy material around the base of the pips. Is this going
to create a problem for the hostas?
Should I sprinkle some soil on top of the pips to cover these
hairs up, or should I dig up the hosta and plant it deeper?
Or, should I just leave them alone?
