Narda, I am beginning to think that I dreamed the process as I have checked
every book that we have on propagation and cannot find the material. It is
really simple. I took shears and cut between the veins of the begonia
leaves. Each leaf will give you 6 to 8 cuttings. The cuttings are then
placed into little cells in ( I used pro mix and perlite about one-fourth
perlite) Put the pointed end or the one that joins the center vein into the
wet soil. Cover with a plastic dome. A few weeks later little plantlets
begin to appear. Roots also tend to go in all directions. I am now moving
them into four inch pots.
Actually the young plants can be bought for very little but it is sometimes
difficult to find the color I want so I only took cuttings from the special
colors that grow well.
Good luck
Mary
