As told earlier seeds are ripe, the whole scape, starting 10-13
weeks from the opening of the first flower. The more seeds you
have ( not the more pods!) on a scape the longer it takes to ""fill
them all up"". So a single pod will ripen in 10 weeks a whole bunch
in 13 weeks Waiting longer does not harm nor does it add very
much. No need to wait for a slit as this takes a very long time
inside as Bill shows.
