If one goes thru the list of registered cultivars (hostas) there are quite a
few with the parentage=="Parentage Unknown". I think it somewhat strange to
publish a pic of such a one with the caption reading: " Seedling. Parentage
unknown."

Why not put in bold face a WARNING on each color page, the following:
UNREGISTERED HOSTAS PICTURED HERE ARE SOMETIMES IDENTIFIED BY THE USE OF A
FANCY CULTIVAR NAME IN PARENTHESES. SUCH IS A NODEM NUDUM.

So, the cutline could read: " Unregistered Seedling, r x w ('Dubacks Dupage
Parkys Wonder'), seen here in the garden of the hybridizer, Chick Clyde
Bridgekett IV."

Better journalism; more informative; more in furtherance of the Purposes of
the AHS.

The AHS does not need the draconian rules that Kevin so nicely described;
rather, it needs a new Board and Executive Committee--- (and a new Registrar).
