Why is an amended soil sometimes bad? Roots are adapted to the
soil they are in So if there is large difference between the garden
soil and your amendement/ the soil in the pot, the roots are not fit
for your garden soil They dont make new roots because they
already have roots but of the wrong kind!. I would suggest amend
the soil but use a fifty fifty mix of the garden soil and your amended
soil. I once had a small sedum plant with roots from the wild. It
refused to grow Then I made a cutting from the same plant without
any roots and off it went.
