Although, as far as I know , G Schmid is not a member of hosta
open I could have been dissappointed that he or anybody else is
not willing to discuss the actual number of species in Hosta, the
basis of all our cultivars. It would save a lot of efforts of the
hybridizers to know beforehand what are good species and fully
fertile and what are just more or less sterile hybrids disguised as
species.
