Hi Bill,
I will bring some greeting cards with prints of old botanical plates of pelargoniums, most from the 1800s, for the raffle/auction. I do hope people will donate special plants as we in the US need to do all we can to preserve the cultivars and having them spread around really helps.
Thanks for your work on behalf of IGS.
Sandy

Here is information on the annual meeting. Please read all the way through as there is a request at the end.The Annual Meeting of the IGS will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2006 in Arroyo Grande Women's Community Building, 211 Vernon Street, Arroyo Grande CA 93420.The cost is $15 per person. Registration fee is payable in advance to Bob Weissberg, 1080 Hetrick Ave. Arroyo Grande, CA 93420. Checks payable to CCGS. Advance registration is necessary for the caterer and seating arrangements. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. The main speaker is David Fross, co-owner of Native Sons Nursery and coauthor of two recently published books, California Native Plants for the Garden and Ceonothus. Both books will be available for purchase at the meeting and the nursery will be open to our group after the meeting. The nursery specializes in plants adapted to a Mediterranean climate including some geraniums and pelargoniums. There will be a catered lunch and door prizes in addition to the sale to benefit IGS. Vendors (Robin Parer and Sandy Connerley so far) will have plants available for sale also. Donn Reiners will mount a large photographic display.A number of more interesting plants were retained from the Central Coast annual sale for donation to the IGS fund raiser. The main purpose of this email is to ask members for donations to be used in the fund raising portion of the meeting.Do you have Pelargonium or Geranium related items that you can part with to be either auctioned of sold for the benefit of the IGS?We have a few items already donated. An example is Vol. 1 of the Pelargoniums of South Africa, the 2 edition in English published in Germany. We could used a lot more items. Books, household items, pictures and even specimen plants. How about plants for the IGS sale table. DO you have spare plants that are hard to find that another member would want? A plant that needs attention from a new owner perhaps. Your scraggly unusual or hard to find plant just might be a treasure for someone else. Please contact Bill Lemke (GARDENERBILL1@AOL,COM) if you have questions or want to make arrangements for a donation. Items can be brought the day of the meeting. Let me know if you have something to donate. If you cannot make the meeting, postage for items can be arranged if needed. Thanks for reading this.Bill in San Jose California
