Damen stopped

  • Subject: [IGSROBIN] Damen stopped

Just a small tidbit of Dutch news - I just heard from my local nursery
in Naarden who always purchased lovely oldfashioned (scented,
colorleaved zonals, angels etc) cultivars and species from Damen that he
stopped and where the nursery was they now built houses. Mr. Damen had
kept many of the plants he got from Sylvia Scheen (the late Dutch
societies chairperson) going faithfully and sold only to retailers who
knew to find him and appreciated what he offered (so not the new popular
cultivars but the oldfashioned special ones). It is a pity his business
is gone now as he had some lovely plants (amongst which Creamery) that
then found their way all over the country.
