Greenhouse heating

Hello,
    Does anyone have practical experience with greenhouse heating?  What
kind of heaters are recommended.  The size will be 8x16' and the area
will be Grass Valley, California, where the temperature has the
potential to get very low some years.  I would need something that would
come on automatically should I be out of town.
