Winter Growers Waking Up

During October my tuberous rooted winter growers have started to wake up.
The only one that shows no sign of growth yet is Pelargonium barklyi. The
pachycaul species started growing during the last half of September. P.
cortusifolium is now in full growth. It's great to see some leaves after a
long summer! The changes from season to season are subtle in San Diego and
sometimes the plants say more than the calendar anyway :-)

As one might expect the Tylecodon and "winter growing" mesembs also are
making their moves. It's like having a small piece of Namaqualand in the
back yard.
