Ed,

My understanding of non profit organizations is limited, but I do know you
fill out the application, submit it with your request to become non-profit,
and you get back a determination of what category you fall into.  The tax
board decides, not the applicant.  IGS is non-profit, but you do not receive
a tax break for donating to them.
