Definitely!
And this brings up a topic that needs to be addressed. Right now the
list is "ownerless." As you all know, it was originally started by
Diana Pederson as a onelist.com mailing list (or was it coollist?).
At any rate, Diana had to leave list management for personal reasons,
and I agreed to take it over.
Quite frankly, I haven't had the time to do much lately, and I see
my time becoming more and more precious as some of projects near
completion. Of course, I don't want to drop any of our lists just
because of my poor time management skills, so I think that the
appropriate thing to do here is find someone willing to manage
the list. Plus (and I hate to say it), I'm really not much of
daylily person. :) The yard is pretty shady, and three years
ago I yanked a 30' x 6' bed of double orange daylilies from the
east side of the driveway so that I could plant all kinds of
little things in there...
List management is actually pretty simple; I've written a gazillion
scripts and hacked sendmail (the guts of the process that sends out
the messages to you all) enough that most of the menial listowner
tasks are automagically handled. There is the matter of watching
the list content, gently steering conversations back on topic, and
answering lots of questions about how to subscribe and unsubscribe
from the list. You may also need to approve subscription requests
or manually unsubscribe people if they're having problems.
Is anybody interested? If so, voice your enthusiasm here! I'd
like this to remain a public process so that we can do this in
a semi-democratic way.
