Hello, I've just joined this list and would like to introduce
myself and add my thoughts to "keeping the list going".
My name's Patricia, tho I often go by Mrs. Bill. :-) Living
in Southern Ontario, Canada, I have the advantage of some good
gardening weather for part of the year, and am interested in
continuing gardening indoors for the rest of the year. Enabling
gardeners is a big issue for me, as many members of my family,
including myself, are limited in what we can do, due to various
conditions. In fact, I am beginning to research the building of
an indoors "raised garden" which, with proper lighting, could
possibly extend the growing season for us - and allow us to
garden without the added strain of bending and excessive weeding
(yes, I'm a softie, I don't like to use poisons). An extension
of this (if I can convince my hubby to help me in the building
process! <g>) is to offer this service to seniors' homes and
other agencies where people might enjoy enabled gardening.
So .... keeping this list going is important to me, and I hope
there are others who feel the same.
Regarding Amaris' views on the year 2000 issues, I won't offer
too many comments right now - I need some time to form an
intelligent response :-) My hubby and I just went through our
first canning experience and I couldn't have completed it without
his able-bodied help. Clearly there must be other ways to reach
the goal, and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this.
Thanks, and looking forward to responses ..... mrs bill
