Yes, you can cut the top 1/3 off without problems.  You might even try potting
the 1/3 you cut off.  Dip it in some Root One before dropping it in the soil.  If
you can, put a clear plastic bag over the top.  In about 2-3 months you should
have 2 healthy plants.
