leggy Dracaena

Hello everyone.

I have 2 different types of Dracaena, and both plants are about 5 years
old (?--maybe more, i'm not sure).  Anyway, the short, broad leaf one is
starting to droop from the weight of its own leaves, quite badly.  If I
chop off the top third, will it branch?  Does it have to be cut back to
the leafless area?  I'm not very familiar with this plant (other than
its 'iron constitution').   Any help will be appreciated.
