The chopping off of an overgrown Dracaena looks to me rather drastic,
and of course it will shock the plant very severely. (If I were a
plant, I would be terrified. :-)
The technique called Air Layering looks like a much better alternative
by far, since it allows the plant to develop a self-sustaining root
system *before* trans-plantation...
