Hey all,
Thanks for the kumquat responses. I found a number of sites that each have
a bit of information on kumquats in case anyone else decides to go "the way
of the kumquat":
the four winds site (which someone else mentioned on the list - Thanks!)
the kumquat festival site (every January in Dade City FL)
www.dadecity.com/kumquat
kumquat blurb with a nice picture
http://www.floridata.com/ref/f/fort_mar.cfm
nice growing tips on indoor growing(citrus with some kumquat info)
http://www.floridata.com/ref/f/fort_mar.cfm
. . .and a host of chinese pages that I cannot really read but I see
pictures of kumquats or sometimes see the word Fortunella on them.
They seem to be the citrus most suited to indoor/container growing.
I know that they are grown not infrequently here where I am (San Francisco
bay area, California), but I haven't the time to go by one of the farms and
talk with the large scale growers to get their say on the matter. There
don't seem to be really ANY books written about them, and I have looked.
I have ordered a 2 year old tree and I have planted a few seeds. I'll keep
the list posted on what happens and if I find more info.
