Hi to all the green-fingered ones.
I did something terrible - I remember reading that putting your indoor
plants out in the rain is good for them, to give their leaves a nice,
natural rinsing. So, I dutifully and lovingly carried all my pots on to the
balcony including my Schefflera (the one with the big leaves) - there they
stayed all day getting their watering and a pleasant bath. That evening I
took them all in, except the Schefflera because I need help carrying the
pot. For two days I wasn't home so Scheffy stayed on the balcony in the
cold. This morning I woke up with a shock - and went to haul his green butt
inside. He's a skeleton of his former self. I think there are at most four
leaves left on him. Is there any hope? I thought the wind might have torn
the leaves off, but my boyfriend (the one of the horticultural variety)
insists that it was the cold. It wasn't freezing - probably about 10
degrees Celsius. We're in South Africa and it's autumn now.
Any advice would be most appreciated. Get well soon cards would also be
welcome.
~Christa
