I misplaced the original message but I did want to share some of my
experience with indoor blooming (or lack thereof...).  I bought a halide
light (400 watts).  I have it about 4 feet above my growing area and was
able to keep a gardenia blooming as long as it was directly under the light.
I think you could do a rose but you probably need to get it closer and then
there is the "heat" issue because they are very warm and can burn the plants
(not to mention drying out the soil....)

There are a couple of places (web sites even) that have info.  I got mine
from Worms Way.  Hope this helps a little.
