Mealy bugs

Ive been lucky in my few years of growing violets and orchids not to get an
infestation of one bug or another. But my luck has run out. Because of lots
of travel with work and vacation, I have not kept up as much as I would
like with my plants.

Yesterday was plant day. I spent the whole day, watering and grooming each
and every plant. Acckkk. I discovered mealy bugs on a orchid, then
another. I started an isolation spot for them, but as the day went on my
isolation spot was much larger than the plants that I did not find any bugs
on.

I probably have 100 or so Orchids and found mealy bugs on most of them.
Ive dealt with a bug here and there before, but never had this many plants
with bugs.

Can anyone suggest a way to get rid of them on so many plants?

I cant use anything very toxic because I have 30 birds.

Any help out there?

Lori
