Another suggestion might be to look at ficus benjamina carefully to see if
scale insects are present. I would not have one in the plant collection.
They develop a scale infestation sooner or later. Laurus nobilis or bay tree
is less trouble, has no insects and likes it cooler. The bay tree can be
indoors in the winter in less light than ficus. The last ficus that I owned
was put out with the trash and someone adopted it despite it being labelled
"buggy".
