The answer to your question about tap water really depends on the water
quality in your area. You could get reports from the local water works,
or better yet, ask local greenhouses (especially those who grow the types
of plants you do). If you're still in doubt, collect rainwater (but only
if you don't live in a major metropolitan area where acid rain is
common...).
