I currently have one begonia plant (charm with variegated leaves) in a
large hanging basket over my kitchen sink. I brought 2 plants inside from
my porch this summer. The maroon leaved one croaked from either too little
light or too little water--don't know which. However, charm is blooming
and growing like crazy. I transplanted it into pure coir!
I've tried ferns in coir with total failure. I think we need to do some
experimenting to see which plants like it and which don't. Maybe a mixture
of 1 part coir and 1 part peat would be better?
I am still learning and experimenting with this media. Yesterday I was
talking with an acquaintance about its possibility as a hydroponics media.
Am going to be doing some research on this subject. If you bring the
question up again or just email me at enabling@surfree.com, I may have more
answers (or questions!).
