Ruth,
Yes, we're still out here, but as you say, busy in the outdoor garden this
time of year. My indoor plants are all (with the exception of AV's and
Phal's) on the back patio, enjoying the sun and the bugs (but not the rain,
alas..dry here for the last few weeks).
To your question..My Rhipsalidopsis has bloomed as early as April, as late
as June. I've never been able to successfully time its bloom as I have with
Christmas/T'giving cactus. It just seems to bloom when it's ready. The
color on mine is also unusual, fuchsia-like, with outer petals rosy red and
inner ones purple. The overall effect is almost fluorescent. Previous
specimens I have owned have been the "standard" flame red, which is why I
was so atttracted to this one. Mauve I have never seen..Has anyone on the
list tried collecting seed from these guys? I have a few fruits setting. Or
are the offspring inferior to the parent..
