>I assume that you are talking about the usual hoya, H. carnosa.
I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I bought it at a grocery store about six
years ago, and it's been in its present pot about 3 years. It's actually
two plants in one pot--one has bigger, dark green leaves with little white
spots, the other has slightly smaller leaves with different shades of
variegation in the center with dark green edges. Very pretty, but I think
I really should move it so it can get more sun and more attention.

Mine will go for about 4 months without doing anything, then all of a sudden
I wake up one morning and there's a long tendril reaching away from the
plant. I just keep having to wind it around the brass ring. It sure does
seem dormant sometimes, because I always treat it the same year-round,
and sometimes it takes off on a growth spurt for apparently no reason.

I just got Logee's beautiful catalog last week, and there was a picture
of H. lacunosa and it really is quite pretty. Lemony yellow flowers,
and it says that after dark it releases a rich cinnamon scent. Sounds
really nice, since I love fragrant plants. My mouth was just watering
reading about all the hoyas they offer. I hope that isn't a bad sign. :-)
I'm seriously thinking about ordering H. coronaria, mostly because it
says "it exudes the mouthwatering essence of warm mocha." Mmmm.
H. purpureofusca sounds neat too--blooms profusely with "deep rose-
colored blossoms against pointed silver and pink speckled leaves."

My plant collection is still small enough (about 45 altogether) that they
all seem like "individuals" to me. Plus I'm home all day (don't work,
got two little boys) so I'm constantly checking out my plants for any
sign of *anything* happening. Right now I'm just estatic because my
little dendrobium orchid is forming a spike, the first time I've ever been
able to re-flower an orchid. Yippee!
