Any time there is a branch that's dead or dying or broken, you should cut
it out right away. Look for jelly coming out of a little hole on each of
these branches. It could be bores. I grew an apricot tree from a pit
that sprouted in the compost, and I pulled out weeds all around it, and
that didn't bother it at all. I envy all those fruit trees. I just
planted my first: a dwarf peach and a dwarf golden delicious that needs a
cross pollinator.
What do I do about this? I have a couple of gloxinias that I've had for
about ten years. For the last several, instead of growing the way you see
them in the stores, they have multiple crowns, and they trail down over
the sides of their pots and go all over the place. They get LOTS of
flowers, but I kind of wish they grew the way they originally did. How do
I convince them to do this?
