Aloes, basics

I grow several aloes and have had good results with these methods. Grow
aloes in bright light not blazing sun. Too much sun can cause dark spots
and sunburn on the plant. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
Water well until water runs out of the bottom of the pot. Use a light
soil mix which drains well, several companies make mixes for catus and
succulents, use on of those. Aloes do tend to get heavy for their pots.
Instead of repotting them into a pot that is too big for their root
system, try placing them into a heavy cache pot. This will steady the
plant and keep it from falling over. I grow mine in plastic pots set in
heavy ceramic pots slightly larger than the pot the plant is in. As for
fertilizer, I use a liquid fertilizer diluted quarter strength every
watering. As a rule, don't prune aloes, if a branch starts to wither you
can cut it off at the base.

Hope this helps.
Bob
