early out

Greetings:

Yes, I know it's too early to set houseplants outside. But I did yesterday
and today, when highs were in the upper 70s and low 80s. Just couldn't
resist! The garden soil was too moist to work; I had to do something
outdoors, so I moved 15 houseplants to the deck in the morning and brought
them back inside at dusk.

All basked in the warm surroundings in a shady corner. They loved it! A
ficus I'm training into bonsai especially enjoyed this afternoon's shower.
Already it has perked up. Also going out were various hedera (including
topiaries), jade plant also being trained as a topiary, cane begonia, small
pelargonium, hibiscus and cacti, plus wax begonias and impatiens raised from
cuttings taken last autumn that will return to flower beds and containers
about May 1.

Ah, it was great on Sunday afternoon to simply bask in the sun on a comfy
chair sipping fresh iced sun tea while observing plants pushing through the
soil in the perennial borders. I wasn't disappointed that it was too wet to
work in the borders. Truely a relaxing day. We need one now and then.
