Re: INDOOR-GARDENING digest 305

Dear Ashley & Hermine:
Cycads aren't too fussy about care. They'll readily survive a winter
indoors. Over the years I've accumulated several Cycad species that
summer outdoors on a north facing deck and then tolerate various indoor
conditions.
When they're not in growth don't push with either too much fertilizer
or water. Do wash household dust off the leaves. Check your potting
mixture and make sure you're providing the pH they require.
My husband gave me a Cycas revoluta for a first anniversary present
twenty years ago. It's been through moves, remodels and gross
inattention and survived; guess it's kinda like a marriage.
Best, Vicki
