Growing Catalpa Trees from seed

I just got done trying to grow Catalpa trees (we used to call them
Indian Cigar trees) from seed.  The seeds come up, get their 2nd set of
leaves & die.  After they come up, I put them in the greenhouse.  Can't
figure out why they died.  They were doing fine until we got 13 days of
rain & no sun.  Could this be the reason?  Any help on this would be
