Sometimes that can be caused by overfertilization. The residues and salts come up to the top of the soil.
I found out recently that one of my curly ivy plants started dropping leaves, looking dead and just acting weird had, upon
closer inspection, little tiny webs on them...spider mites! I sprayed it today with ice cold water in a spray
bottle..apparently they hate cold, cold water...so we'll see what happens and if it perks up after this.
