[INDOOR-GARDENING:418] RE: Staking plants

I use stakes meant for outdoor gardening. They are sturdy and coated in a green plastic that blends well with the plant. They come in a variety of lengths to suit your needs, or can be cut to custom sizes.

Subject:	[INDOOR-GARDENING:416] Staking plants

This is a problem I run into semi-freqently, so maybe someone with more
experience can help me.
Occasionally, I have a plant that grows up and is unable to support
itself, and I want to put a stake in the pot to tie it up to. Two
problems arise from this:
First, often, the pot is just not heavy enough to support this, and the
dowel just seems to make the plant more likely to fall over, unless I
lean it in a corner, and second, the dowel (what I've used) always
seems to soften up and break off at the ground surface within a few
months.
Should I use something metal? Or is there just a better way?
JJ
