Rick, I grow about 70 varietys of african violets. There is no problem with getting the leaves wet as long as you do not use cold water. Its the cold that causes the leaf spots. I like to give mine a bath about once a month with the kitchen sprayer. I believe they benefit from the cleaning. Julie
