I have had good luck watering my infested with fungus gnat plants with a
weak solution of anti bacterial soap(you know the kind they sell in a
pump for washing hands). the soap kills any live gnats and the anti
bacterial agent deters the fungus. I have had to do this a few times 
over the course of a few weeks and it seems to help
