	Well, if you are serious, I read that an important factor about
growing an avocado plant/tree/whatever from a pit is that the grower
should pinch the tip of the plant out when the plant is 6" tall.  To make
the plant branch, obviously.  If said grower were to be as successful as
someone I read about recently (either on a list, or in a ten year old
begonia magazine) to have a avocado tree  10' tall in their house,
grown from a pit,
pinching when each successive growth attained 6" would be a good idea.
