Fittonia

My poor Fittonia, Tony is in poor shape. I have him in the bathroom where
he can get alot of moisture. He has new leaves coming in but the older
ones fall of and new growth are on the tips. His stems are long and bare.
Would he grow leaves if I cut back the stems below a node? I want to put
him in a glass garden but I can't see it making a difference. How can you
bottle moisture? Anyone have Fittonias? Any tips? (I have a plant manual
so please don't quote from one)

....Lysette
