Jean,
I have one, and also do not know its latin name. I keep mine near, but not
in, a south window. It seems to love bright diffused light. As for brown
leaves- I have just accepted that as something the plant does. I (and
others I know who have this species) observe a healthy plant which will
have segments suddenly turn brown and dry up. I don't let it bother me, as
it seems to be acceptable, if not normal. Sorry I'm not very
authoritative, but I wanted to reassure you the plant will probably
continue to florish in spite of the brown leaves.
