Repotting

Like I mentioned a while ago, I repotted some of my plants (yes, pots with
drain holes to be safe). I mixed about 1 part potting soil with 2 parts
peat. Does this take "food" away from the dirt? I don't want my plants to
starve but also don't want them sitting in "cement".
