If you mean that the soil in the troughs froze even with fibermesh (not made
from fiberglass) you have the wrong idea. The fibermesh has nothing to do
with insulating from the cold. It is put into troughs as a replacement for
wire mesh or rods which are used as reinforcement to prevent cracking
especially of the corners. You don't want them in the carport unless
sunlight gets in and you are growing dryland plants.
