[Rose-list] Re: Rooting Roses

Hi Alicia... I've had just enough experience with TRYING to root
cuttings to know that the ''keeping'' of them is the trick... I've
tryed over 200 count of 4-6 inch cuttings last year, under glass,
under plastic, under other roses....with root hormone, without, with
Willow Tea..(neat stuff)

ONE made it and it was one I wasn't counting on it... (others did
well for months, then I forgot to water them..) The one that made it
was off of my Mme. Plantier... just took a raw cutting that I could
not toss, stuffed it in the ground next to mother plant and it's
growing still. Started it early last Summer... (it's an easy rose,
I'm sure, to start..)

Went to a propagation workshop... decided I won't take cuttings until
I set up a cold frame with a misting system...(another project...:-P
) I'm told it takes two years to get them to any size... I beleive
it... my ONE that made it is just a few inches tall...

I would love to send cuttings if your up to paying the $3. postage or
so... but I won't have any for you till after blooming now...
earilest would be about July... I have 100 roses, some are
duplicates..

Sincerely,
~Carleen~
