Help with Shrub Roses

It has come to my attention that when seeking help, I need to be more
specific about my location other than the zone: I am in Kentucky, deep in
the Ohio Valley, right on the border between zones 5 and 6.

Quirky weather due to the valley location. Loads of heat, haze, and
humidity. Spells of drought during the summer are common. Can be high
90's to 100 in the summer and as low as below zero in the winter with
undependable snow cover -- mostly ice storms or dry snow.

As you can see, I need advice on my shrub roses. Most other rose varieties
die a slow, agonizing death in my yard; the shrubs hold on quite
beautifully.

Hope all of this helps!
