3 - 5 gallons a week each for average sized roses. How you spread this out in
frequency of watering and quantity depends on your soil ranging from sand
through dense, fine clay. In adobe that drains at an average rate, I water every
other day, tho' every third day would be better. I am costrained by the fact that
my timer also does the lawn which needs every other day watering.

To me, the best measure is to insure that soil is at least slightly moist 3" below
the soil level (starting under the mulch) at all times.
