My 20 roses will be moving into an area which is approximately the same
zone ( 1 hour away) but which gets more snow cover. All the better. I'm
most worried about my 5 year old Austins and Trier which I got this year
and has just started showing good growth. The house is the first being
built so I don't expect sod until next spring. I hope I can get the
garden in soon enough.
I also got altissimo this year. Love this rose which is always covered
in blooms. Also love Black Jade with it's almost black buds. Also love
the Austins which are just starting their second flush of blooms. Quite
a splash of colour. My favourite of these would have to be Clair Rose.
It's got a problem with powdery mildew but it doesn't tend to send out 6
foot long canes like my other Austins. The blooms look more like older
roses and are a light pink with a light scent. Rain tends to ruin the
blooms.
Good gardening everyone.
Lori
